repress 2018... following on from isaac tichauer s street lessons release, the mysterious loft records calls in the talents of bicep, hackman, dorsia and lancelot for a choicest remix package. the french express signing turned many heads when he dropped his lauded devotion lp back in 2012, and since then the australian producer has risen to become a formidable name within modern day electronic music. therefore it s only fitting that an all-star cast were chosen to remix his latest release on loft records. bicep, who had an enormous 2015 with releases on aus and 50 weapons, begin the release with the only remix of higher level - a break infused cut fashioned for the dancefloor with a penetrating melody, echoing vocals and soaring pads. the first of three street lessons remixes then comes from hackman, known for his work on 20/20 vision and futureboogie, who incorporates serene synths and subtle stabs to transform the original into a quirky renovation with elements of funk. london duo dorsia then step up with a cacophony of sounds that build in suspense with the introduction of fuzzy atmospherics, until fellow australian and w&o street tracks artist lancelot generates a cavernous dub containing the originals infectious hook whilst implementing resounding rimshots and wobbly keys.

wiederveröffentlichung von mobys fünftem studio-album als doppel-lp-set mit 180g schwerem vinyl. ursprünglich 1999 veröffentlicht, wurde es zum erfolgreichsten indie-album des jahres und in über 20 ländern mit platin ausgezeichnet. mit -play- änderte moby seine arbeitsweise ein weiteres mal. er nahm samples aus folk und gospel - viele davon entstammen aus dem archiv von alan lomax - und verbindet diese mit seinen elektronischen klanglandschaften. dabei schneidet er aus den samples schleifen, die er endlos wiederholt: bessie jones -sometimes- wird in -honey- über 20 mal wiederholt und so entfaltet er den hypnotischen sog, der diesen song zum hit machte. bei erscheinen wendeten sich viele moby-fans, die ein techno-album erwartet hatten, ab und das album schaffte es nicht bedeutend in den charts aufzutauchen. es sollte über zehn monate dauern, bis sich das blatt wendete und das album sich doch noch zum absoluten hit mauserte. mit 9 (!) single-auskopplungen und unzähligen lizensierungen an tv-shows, filme und werbespots entwickelte sich das album zum dauerbrenner und hat bis heute weit über 12 millionen einheiten abgesetzt.

it is more than astounding why this tune hasn t been resurrected for an ad for one of the many chain of fast food outlets. although the original 45 is neither superrare nor expensive, finger licken chicken is certainly one of the finest examples of philly funk. it was originally released on leoso but was re-released on the yew label. both sides were written by sonny fulton who teamed up with sandra for a killer r&b-ish funk cut on the flip titled back breaking love

we have had our eyes on obas nenor for a while and after his disco-meets-detroit affair on mahogani, and some great releases on his newly started own label nenorian music and sol power, were happy to share his work for heist with you.

great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there’s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.

medical records presents the second release in our transfusions 12- singles series. not too far from medical s headquarters in seattle, resides josh rose aka derivatives in vancouver, bc. known for intense live hardware sets, derivatives has been making waves in the pacific northwest playing alongside multiple notable producers who have toured the area. transfusions presents the first release by derivatives containing 4 distinct and uncompromising tracks that could be loosely associated with minimal techno but with a more complex and certainly darker edge. the tracks were recorded late 2015 in vancouver. for fans of labels such as token, mote-evolver, and avian, you should dive in. presented on classic 160gram black vinyl in our transfusions 12- sleeve. mastered by martin bowes at the cage studios, uk.

for the second bad barbie records vinyl release of 2016 we are more than exited to bring you the magnificent work from the bla bla music owner daniel sanchez with his impromptu ep. here we have four amazing pieces where each one tells a different history. the first one pearled into droplets saw the light after a great live jam and the result is combination of several layers of base elements with subtle minimalistic articulations. these, in combination of the bass and synths lines do create a truly amazing micro house piece. the second one vague, is an atmospheric dub were a single synth chord raises in slowly, followed by a very subtle kick and bass line to set a bit of rhythm to the whole thing, creating a superb dreamy vibe while the chords do their thing with delicate reverbs and delays in the backend. a great musical piece indeed. for the third track we have yi, again another amazing micro house jewel born from a live jam, but this one is even more energetic than the first one and it also includes, besides a rocking bass line, analog synth chords that lifts up the mood during specific moments, which also do their part articulating themselves perfectly with some occasional twisted vocals that helps create an amazing party vibe from beginning to end. and if this wasn t enough we also have bedroom stories vocal tool that daniel included with his delivery, which can help spice up a dj set with ease.

tippa lee’s new album cultural ambassador will be released on stones throw, may 20, 2016. available now is the dub version of the album, dub them with reality, mixed by producer tom chasteen (dub club, natural numbers), who has reconfigured the tracks live on the mixing board with echo, reverb and various arcane electronics. the lp covers, in two variations, were screen printed in gold and black by hit & run, with artwork by ellen g. tippa lee was born and raised in kingston, jamaica. he started performing on his fathers sound system as a child, standing up on a beer bottle box to reach the mic. he made his first recordings at king tubby’s studio at the age of 12. eventually he teamed up with rappa robert and as a duo had a number of hits including “no trouble we”, an anthemic statement against police harassment, which was a number one jamaican hit in 1988 and is still played often on jamaican radio. in more recent years he has been based in the us, performing live and releasing his own underground cds.

if this latest missive from camp nado is anything to go by, were in for a scorching summer. for the eighteenth (though mysteriously numbered 014) release on the mancunian institution, messers moonboots and boardman invite a cosmopolitan cast from france and, well, yorkshire, to take us for a stroll through the surf. hulls renaissance man, steve cobby, takes centre stage on his label debut, collaborating with leeds musician rich arthurs on the a-side epic bushfarmer before showcasing his skill at the mixing desk with a b-side remix of penelope antennas sultry tradewinds, which also appears in all its original glory.

spider and phil are back with more of their analog jam session madness! 4 tracks of apocalyptic cult techno at it s finest. these two stalwarts are plowing through the scene with military precision. all four tracks were recorded in the world famous butcha sound studio in new york city. plan b recordings is on top of their game here with more original material from the rotten apple. stay tuned for much more to come..

faraway reach casts classixx’s young-but-nostalgic melodies and sublime chords in a more mature, restrained light, albeit no less lively and bright. establishing themselves as producers of note on their debut lp (pitchfork called them “great songwriters, too”), faraway reach delivers powerfully smooth and soulful jewels that are still decidedly their own - the classixx signature is one that can’t be traced. their love of plaintive voices and disco-inspired grooves is as evident as ever, but this time around everything is a bit bolder, the cast is bigger, the melodies distilled into a higher potency - it’s all just as good, but better. “on the first record, we wanted to include only people that were our friends, and have it be really personal…” david begins, a thought blake finishes: “this time we wanted to make a record with a lot of different kinds of vocals, to see if we could be the common thread.” the album traverses locales, vocalists and inspirations. it s a fitting movement for the duo, from venice beach to the mountains of south africa and everywhere in between - a faraway reach.

gregory darsa aka point g aka dj gregory is a long-time galaxy traveler. during one of his journeys, he met cap n cabannon in a mercenary spacecraft, and as they were exchanging time travel techniques, they came out with the idea of creating a flat black hole able to achieve a 20 years trek in just a few minutes. so here we are: classics & unreleased jams, provides a high quality rush fuel that turns any space travel into an exhilarating time experience.

house is ok, but oli, janis and homeboy never said they were exclusively a house label. introducing house of life and dgf to the world, they make a slight change in direction. this split 7 inch single leaves the world of 4/4 interpretations and takes the imprint to the land of creep hop and trip pop. house of life is a project of chaveli sifre riestra & nikias chryssos. they make songs about men who dance with no pants, jesus christ, satan, and darkroom murderers. their lyrics are channeled through occult rites, internet forums, computer codes, and therapy sessions.hans with no pants tells the story of a guy who likes to party with kids, eat cake and serve cool drinks. he lives in a house by the beach and invites guests to dance with him, but what goes on in his basement remains an unspoken mystery. on the flip, a number from dgf, a project of nikias & label honcho janis. greif meine hand was originally written for the original soundtrack of nikas short film the grandfather. after it got to the 2nd place on the intergalactic fm demo competition and got props by the likes of i-f, rude66 and dj tlr, we decided to give it a second chance by putting it on this lush 45.

in 2013 drumcell debut his first full length album sleep complex on clr. around the time of the album release drumcell invited three of his close label mates luis flores and raíz truncate from droid and lucy from stroboscopic artefacts to create their own interpretations of his music. the unreleased tracks were constant dance floor tracks used within the teams dj sets and its about time to release these tracks to the public!

severence is an electronic sound artist who lives in spain. mensch 003 experiments with various forms of chaotic sound & signal generation to create dense chaotic sound fields and other more relaxed ambient soundscapes. all tracks were recorded live in one take using a eurorack modular synth, a mixing desk and various effects pedals (no overdubs or post processing in the computer).

about a year ago nico stojan and acid pauli met at the studio to record some music. while doing so they discovered their common love for sample based production. so they were basically digging into old vinyls and eventually these three tracks came along. nothing more to say, but enjoy. call of the valley is the first release on the new label ouie: there has been a shift in this tiny piece of massive world and, like all other shifts, they are documented by those who were there. ouie is the label to do just that, created by the people who were there, making those shifts.

all of the tracks in this ep were created by the roland rhythm composer tr-707. the recordings were captured live using a combination of analog and digital equipment. all manipulations and pattern changes were generated by hand.

italian native, christian lisco is well known for having an extremely envious collection of vintage synthesisers and drum machines housed in his basement. it was there that four ridiculously special acid cuts that we are prone to immediately fall in love with on first reception. -your joy” which sees the collaborative efforts of singer, michael clifford, evokes the feeling of the early age of american house music. the next set of tracks were treated with a surrounding of acid basslines and heavy drums. mixed live and directly recorded to tape.

were honored to present mulla and his debut ep six chapters. mullas appearance on cahoots volume 2 with smack back brought something refreshing to our ears and we immediately wanted more. with that said, we welcome our treasured nomad back to the cahoots camp with six chapters.

following last year’s breakthrough album “tundra”, lakker return to r&s with a very special new project.
lakker were commissioned by the re:vive initiative to create a new conceptual work solely sampling field recording, tv and radio broadcasts from the dutch national av archive, the netherlands institute for sound and vision. the curated material provided all related to and was representative of the theme the “dutch and water”.
the resulting 8 track release “struggle and emerge” is a tense soundtrack to the machine driven mid-20th century that captures the complex relationship between the dutch and the water that surrounds them- unyielding, colossal, industrial.

ext returns with his follow up to the third installment of house shoes reputable “the gift” series with “arts & craft”. ext cleared off his desktop about a year ago and sent me everything he had been working on. all of the tracks were in various stages of development. some loops, some fully fleshed out, some sounded like sketches. it drew my attention because of the resounding innocence of the collection, an innocence that is more or less gone from the industry in 2015. listen and learn what it sounds like to just have the intention to create, not muddled with the star aspirations or big money dreams. just to create.

fantastic voyage’s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn’t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.

in collaboration with aniara records sankt goran presents an old swedish release that has been released as promo only in 1999. its a release called slobban by a late 90s trio of jens johansson, peter gustafsson and carl magnus ernström from falun in the woods of dalarna, two hours north of stockholm. almost classic detroit techno tracks with some jazzy influences from these guys that have been playing around and tweeking their deep bass nine, tb-303, korg dw8000 and yamaha dx7 & dx10, sprinkling some samples on top with the casio fz-10m since 1994. the peepz of aniara were so impressed by this obscure record that they found it essential to get a small run back avaialble for the many vinyl heads around. vinyl only release of these great swedish techno tracks somehow in the vein of the breakthrough tracks of aril brihka. nice one!

this polyrhythmic swirl of drum machine, tape echo and locked grooves is the product of two post-1982 jam sessions between an anonymous dj and drum machine operator duo. the dj liked the way a record happened to skip. more were made to do so. the drum machine operator had had a bit too much, but he knew that 100 divided by 3 was 33 - and he was feeling the toms that night. file under: funky experimental.

‘this is eleanore mills’ was her debut and only album, recorded for the sylvia robinson’s all platinum subsidiary astroscope in 1974. the album was produced by harry ray and al goodman of the moments and tommy keith of the rimshots. it includes some great crossover and modern soul cuts, including the in-demand string laden early soul/disco ‘same routine’ a popular killer cut and ‘i’m gonna get you’ another superb up tempo soul cut. ‘fascinating devastating man’ is a lovely mid tempo track. the album includes some beautiful soul ballads ‘he said goodbye’, ‘how can i love you’ and the heavily sampled ‘telegram’ which she rips up, plus ‘teach me’ an amazing near seven minute opus which picks up a heavier groove half way through.

borussia is our neighbor but dont think were releasing his record for this reason! he is passionate about video games, horror movies and romantic comedies, which might be one of the reasons why he gives us such an explosive cocktail. this record is raw, mad and dirty like a good old dance mania. but no need much to say, just try it on a dancefloor youll enjoy it!

if everything suddenly changed – what would that be like?
qnete’s ep is not the question and not the answer. it’s in a hiatus between hopes and fears, still maintaining an eager energy. within a short period of time all tracks were recorded straight to tape, raw and improvised. they remember the sun bath before the storm, when you feel that something is about to roll over you. they express the urge and need to sometimes just jump into the cold water to face what’s coming next. they linger in the nervous energy when you’re lost and don’t know what to expect. but they also talk about the hope of finding a safe place.

after 9 years of silence, here’s the 11th album from the unclassifiable brussels-based duo. with their usual tamping drums (just mention the two parts of “the decision to exist” or “same area”, led by a ferocious 808), a regular bass guitar hammering, some bare minimum poor voices, threatened violins, skinbound flute and oboe here and there, a distorted furious piano everywhere and finally some tiny cautious optimism (the extra-human guitar in “enough slaps”), the whole is carefully assembled in order to obtain an accurate picture of life on earth. “pain” and “pleasure” are different aspects of the same mental construction.

the crate-digging credentials of psychemagik’s danny mclewin are well established. even so, he’s excelled himself with the first release on spacetalk, a joint venture with leng records’ simon purnell and paul murphy.
the trio have successfully worked together a lot over the last five years, with purnell and murphy releasing a string of superb collections, compiled by mclewin and psychemagik partner tom coveney. all three men were keen to continue this partnership, and have founded spacetalk to re-release long forgotten, little-known or overlooked music, as well as previously unheard archive material from some of the artists involved.
the label’s first release is as obscure as they come. morrison kincannon’s to see one eagle fly is stupidly rare, having initially been released by its’ creators as a private press record during the early 1970s.
